USDA Announces Child Nutrition Nationwide Waivers for School Year 2021-2022
4/20/21
Why it Matters?  Â
State and local program operators across the country have worked tirelessly to make sure children have access to nutritious meals despite unprecedented challenges of the pandemic. The new suite of waivers and flexibilities will provide increased funding, support access, and balance operational needs with the goal of providing nutritious meals. Child Nutrition Programs play an essential role in the health and development of our nation’s children and these waivers and flexibilities will support program operators and the return to on-site programming.
Summary
Twelve Nationwide Waivers were announced:
While many waivers in the suite provide flexibility for an extended timeframe, FNS expects schools and child care providers to use the flexibilities for the duration and extent that they are needed.  Â
